CEPSA QUÍMICA is an energy group, 100% IPIC, which employs more than 10,000 professionals working in all phases of the hydrocarbon value chain: oil exploration and production, gas, refining, transport and marketing of oil and natural gas derivatives, biofuels, cogeneration and marketing of electricity.
The company has developed an important petrochemical area, highly integrated with oil refining, where it manufactures and markets raw materials for the production of high value-added products that are mainly used for the production of new generation plastics and biodegradable detergents. It has a notable presence in Spain and, through progressive internationalisation, is also developing its activities on several continents, marketing its products all over the world.
The Palos de la Frontera factory is located in the province of Huelva, in the same industrial complex as Cepsa’s La Rábida refinery, from which it receives a large part of the benzene and propylene used to manufacture 1,000,000 t/year of cumene, 600,000 t/year of phenol and 370,000 t/year of acetone.
These materials have a wide range of applications, notably in the manufacture of high-performance plastic materials which are then used in the automotive industry, household appliances, construction materials, computer casings and a wide variety of electrical appliances.
The main investments are in energy saving and efficiency projects and in improving and optimising the manufacturing structure of plants.
