The port community association aims to increase its portfolio of services and activities.

The Association for the Commercial Promotion of the Port of Huelva (HuelvaPort) has agreed at a meeting of its Board of Directors to focus its commercial participation in events and trade missions depending on the markets and sectors, which provide new business niches for its associates, as well as continuing to promote the Port of Huelva.

This was made clear during an online session of the first Board meeting of the year in which the president of HuelvaPort, Antonio Ponce, welcomed the new head of the Technical Office, Jaime Beltrán, also responsible for the Business Development and Commercial Department of the Port Authority of Huelva, who emphasised that he faces this new challenge with great motivation.

For his part, the president of HuelvaPort thanked the president of the Port Authority of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, for her presence at this session, as well as her support for the port community. Likewise, Ponce recalled the commendable work carried out by Manuel Vega, Commercial Director of the Port Authority of Huelva, at the head of the HuelvaPort Technical Office since its creation and has advanced that the HuelvaPort Logistics Awards will be destined to remember his valuable work.

Likewise, the president of the Port Authority of Huelva recalled the sad loss of the director of the Technical Office and praised the work carried out by him during all these years. On the other hand, Pilar Miranda reiterated her commitment to the port community and highlighted the projects that the APH is launching in the Port of Huelva, seven of them focused on new initiatives for the expansion and growth of the intermodal platform of the South Quay in order to continue with the diversification of the Port’s activity. Other projects highlighted by the President of the Port were the Logistics Activities Zone, the new fish market and other initiatives to modernise and open up the Muelle de Levante to the city, which will contribute to port-city integration.

During the session, the Technical Office gave an account of the commercial actions carried out at the beginning of this financial year online, due to the current pandemic, focused on the main markets within the sphere of influence and business model of the Port of Huelva such as Extremadura, Morocco, Europe and South America, in addition to the commercial actions related to the cruise industry. In other matters, the association’s accounts, the contracting of new services, collaboration with other associations and the 2021-2022 action plan, which aims to increase HuelvaPort’s portfolio in order to generate greater added value for its members, were also discussed.
