After its launching in February, the blessing ceremony of this 33-meter vessel was held.

The company Ba ltimar  (Herederos de Ángel Muriel Santana), a member of the National Association of Seafood Fishing Vessel Owners (ANAMAR), which is part of the Spanish Fishing Confederation (Cepesca), has celebrated the blessing of its new fishing vessel Doce  de Julio, which will fish in the waters of Guinea Bissau and Mauritania within the framework of the sustainable fishing agreements (SFPA) that the European Union (EU) has with these African countries.

The event took place at the Muelle de Levante of the Port of Huelva and follows the launching of the vessel last February in the Asturian town of Navia, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Baltimar, created in 1965 by the couple Ángel Muriel Santana and Josefa Moreno Benítez. With this new vessel, whose name recalls the date of birth of the late Ángel Muriel Moreno, son of the founders, there are now 10 vessels in the fishing fleet of the Huelva-based company.

The “Doce de Julio” is one of the few fishing vessels built in Spain in recent years. It is a freezer seafood vessel of 32.70 meters in length, a gross tonnage (GTs) of 310 tons and a propulsive power of 1200 hp.

The new vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art maritime-fishing technologies. Both its main engine and auxiliary engines are of the latest generation, so that they consume around 200 liters of diesel oil less per day compared to the old engines, which reduces CO2 emissions.
